Mindsense has released a public preview version of its Mac e-mail client Mail Pilot. The public preview is free to use while the product is still in development.
Mail Pilot for Mac introduces the idea of task-based e-mail management; when you’re done with a message you mark it from Incomplete to Complete. It’s more like a to-do list. You can set reminders for messages, so your inbox doesn’t pile up with stuff you haven’t gotten around to yet. And you can organize on message status criteria.
Mail Pilot is already available for iOS, and Mail Pilot for Mac works in tandem with it. You can push important messages to your mobile devices or your desktop, so if you need to take care of something back at the office, you’ll be reminded when you get there, instead of fishing around in your inbox trying to remember your action items. The app also makes extensive use of keyboard shortcuts and sports nested threading to keep clutter to a minimum.
The app has been in private beta since October, but Mindsense is opening the floodgates to anyone who wants to give Mail Pilot for Mac a try.
